What can I say, simple salads with healthy ingredients are undeniably delicious. There is something about a quick yet flavorful dressing over chopped tomato, cucumber, and red onion.
This salad can go with just about anything!
My favorite ingredient in this dish is the well-known basil, regarded highly in various cultures around the world. It tastes great and is great for your health too.
It contains many compounds like eugenol, which aids in blocking calcium channels that lowers your blood pressure. The essential oils also reduce cholesterol and triglycerides in your body. Not to mention, it is a good source of magnesium that improves blood circulation. All in all, basil is quite heart healthy!
Besides that, basil has antibacterial properties, anti-inflammatory properties, and adaptogen which is an anti-stress substance.
You really can’t lose when it comes to eating basil, especially when it can brighten up so many dishes.
