Tofu Strawberry-Banana Protein Smoothie

Sticking to organic products is one of the best ways to control my allergies. This includes food, personal care products, and clearing products. I am allergic to many antibiotics so I can only eat organic meats where the animals were not given antibiotics, and I only eat organic fruits because pesticides are known to make your organs work harder to detox. I love making smoothies because they are a quick and easy way to get many essential nutrients. Here is one of my favorite go to smoothies!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries
  • 2 large bananas
  • 4 oz. tofu
  • 1/8-1/4 cup liquid sweetener (honey, fructose, etc.) Or add pinch of stevia to taste
  • 2-3 teaspoon GFCF vanilla flavoring
  • Water or Juice

Preparation:

  • Freeze fruit before blending
  • Add and blend all ingredients thoroughly, add just enough water or juice to bring the smoothie to your preferred consistency.

You can also use blueberries, raspberries, peaches, pears, or whatever fruits you enjoy and can tolerate. Strawberries and bananas have been one of my favorite combinations, and the tofu adds a good amount of protein without sacrificing taste.

Let me know what you find to be your favorite combinations!

GFCF, EF, SF

Legend:

  • GFCF – gluten free casein free
  • SF – soy free
  • EF – egg free

I was a little skeptical at first to try out this “tofu strawberry-banana protein smoothie”. I had never had tofu in my smoothies before so I was not sure if it would taste well or not. To my surprise, this tofu strawberry-banana protein smoothie is one of the best tasting ones I have ever tried!

I recommend freezing the fruit ahead of time before blending to make sure they don’t get too mushed up in there.

I freeze the bananas and strawberries before blending them, not just to make it cold, but to help break down the cell walls of the fruit. This makes it easier to blend, and also prevents me from having an allergic reaction.

I’ve been vegan for over a decade now and have eaten all kinds of tofu smoothies. This is by-far the best one I have tried. It’s got a great flavor, it’s easy to digest and it has a good amount of protein in it.

I freeze the fruit first when blending, which makes it so thick and creamy. It’s great to drink after a workout or before bed.

Crab Cakes

Crab cakes are a treat, and a healthy one at that! They’re packed with protein, as well as long chain omega-3’s. They too are a good source of selenium, which facilitates our antioxidants to prevent cell damage. They’re a great source of B12 too, which is great for...

This one is a quick and easy one folks! I like having sausage seasoning on hand just like I love having a taco seasoning on hand. If some ground pork looks good at the store and/or is on sale, then I know I can come home and quickly cook up some mean sausage patties....

My favorite smoothie: Mix one banana with ½ cup blueberries, ½ cup strawberries, 2 teaspoons of chia seeds, vanilla almond milk or with apple juice.  Add a tablespoon of almond butter if more protein is desired.  Puree in a blender and enjoy!
